Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is located Sydney, Australia. The architect was Jorn Utzon. It is one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world. The Sydney Opera House was start build in March 1959. The project to build the Sydney Opera House has three stages. Stage I at 1959 until 1963 to consist of building the upper podium. Stage II at 1963 until 1967 to see the construction of the outer shells. Stage III at 1967 until 1973 to consisted of the interior design and construction. It was build completely at 1973. The Opera House was formally opened by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on 20 0ctober 1973. The style of the building is modern. The Opera House covers 1.8 hectares of land. It is 183 metres long and 120 metres wide at its widest point. The roof of the Opera House was shell form The Concert Hall and Opera Theatre are each contained in the two largest groups of shells and the other theatres are located on the sides of the shell groupings. The form of the shells is chosen to reflect the internal height requirements rising from the low entrance spaces over the seating areas and up to the high stage towers. A much smaller group of shells set to one side of the Monumental steps houses the Bennelong Restaurant. Although the roof structures of the Sydney Opera House are commonly referred to as shells they are in fact not shells in a strictly structural sense, but are instead precast concrete panels supported by precast concrete ribs. The building's interior is composed of pink granite quarried and wood. The Opera House contains five main performance spaces, a recording studio, five restaurants and four souvenir shops.
