ketupat!


Most of Malaysian know ‘ketupat’, especially Malays. ‘Ketupat’ is one of the most important foods in Malay culture. It is made from rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch. Then, it was boiled. As the rice cooked, it begin to expand to fill the pouch and the rice become compressed. This method of cooking give the ‘ketupat’ its shape of a rice dumpling. Ketupat is usually eaten with ‘rendang’ or ‘lontong’. It also can be serve with satay. During Hari Raya Aidilfiltri, ‘ketupat’ is a tradionally served by Malays as a main menu at open houses.
