SEED

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together. He said, 'It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. 'The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. 'I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plantOne man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it hadJim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot<>to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives.. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him! When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.Jim just tried to hide in the back. 'My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,' said the CEO. 'Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!'All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, 'The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!' When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story. The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, 'Behold your next Chief Executive Officer! His name is Jim!' Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.'How could he be the new CEO?' the others said. Then the CEO said, 'One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust * If you plant goodness, you will reap friends* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective* If you plant hard work, you will reap success* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation* If you plant faith in GOD, you will reap a harvestSo, be careful what you plant now;it will determine what you will reap later. Hai everyone,I have choose the city of manila. Manila lies at the mouth of the Pasig River on the eastern shores of Manila Bay, which is on the western side of Luzon. It lies about 950 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong and 2,400 kilometers northeast of Singapore. The river bisects the city in the middle. Almost all of the city sits on top of centuries of prehistoric alluvial deposits built by the waters of the Pasig River and on some land reclaimed from Manila Bay. The layout of the city was haphazardly planned during Spanish Era as a set of communities surrounding the original Spanish Era walled city of Manila, called Intramuros. Intramuros is one of the oldest walled cities in the far east. During the American Period, some semblance of city planning using the architectural designs and master plans by Daniel Burnham was done on the portions of the city south of the Pasig River. Burnham, the noted American city planner and architect, was famed for his plans and designs of Chicago, Cleveland (the Group Plan), San Francisco, Washington, DC (the McMillan Plan), and Baguio City, details of which appear in The Chicago Plan publication of 1909.

CEndOl!!!!!

Cendol is a traditional dessert originating from Java, Indonesia, but is also popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Southern Thailand. The dessert's basic ingredients consist of shaved ice, coconut milk, starch noodles with green food coloring (usually sourced from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, and creamed corn are optional additions. Cendol has become a quintessential part of cuisine among the multi-racial population in Southeast Asia and is often sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts.
Cendol vendors are also a common sight in Indonesian cities. In the Javanese language, cendol refers to the jelly-like part of the beverage, while the combination of cendol, palm sugar and coconut milk is called dawet.
In Malaysia, cendol is usually sold on the roadside by Indian Muslim vendors. It is common dessert fare in Singapore popularly found in dessert stalls, hawker centres, coffee shops and food-courts, and served by vendors of various ethnic backgrounds. The first Indian Muslim vendors learnt the skills of making the cendol from the Javanese in Indonesia and brought the recipe and preparation methods with them to Malaysia and Singapore. Cendol is also popular as a snack, particularly after Friday prayers among Muslims.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

The Sultan Abdul Samad building has long been a famous landmark for Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur. It is situated at centre of Jalan Raja. Unique moorish-style design, this building, which designed by British architect A.C Norman was completed in 1897. Its architect added an Islamic touch that suitably reflects the cultural background of Malaysia to the mostly Renaissance design. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building was also the forerunner in establishing the nation's Moghal design style. The building once served as the administrative offices for the government during the British administration, but now it is home to the Supreme and High Courts. It also houses the Textile Museum.

The clock tower is significant to many major events; from the lowering of the
Union Jack at the strock of midnite when Malaysia (then Malaya) gained independance to the numorous new year eve celebrations. During state occasions, coloured lights twinkle in the arches, making it look like a scene from an Arabian Nights' tale. The section of Jalan Raja is closed in order for the people to enjoy the night scenery of the area.

moon cakes

Moon cakes are a Chinese pastry traditionally eaten during the Mid-autumn Festival. Typical moon cakes are round or rectangular pastries, measuring about 10 cm in diameter and 4-5 cm thick. A thick filling usually made from lotus seed paste is surrounded by a relatively thin (2-3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Moon cakes are rich, heavy, and dense compared with most Western cakes and pastries. They are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by Chinese tea. Most moon cakes consist of a thin tender skin enveloping a sweet and slightly oily filling. The moon cake may contain one or more whole salted egg yolks in its center to symbolize the full moon. The saltiness of the yolk balances well with the sweet filling in the moon cake. Rarely, moon cakes are steamed or fried. Traditional moon cakes have an imprint on top consisting of the Chinese characters for "longevity" or "harmony" as well as the name of the bakery and filling in the moon cake. Moon cakes are expensive and considered a delicacy, and production is labor-intensive and few people make them at home. Most moon cakes are bought at Asian markets and bakeries.

Helsinki City

Helsinki spreads around a number of bays and peninsulas and over a number of islands. The inner city area occupies a southern peninsula, which is rarely referred to by its actual name Vironnemi. Population density in certain parts of Helsinki's inner city area is very high, reaching 16,494 inhabitants per square kilometer (42,719/sq mi) in the district of Kallio, but as a whole Helsinki's population density of 3,050 inhabitants per square kilometer (7,899/sq mi) ranks it as quite sparsely populated in comparison to other European capital cities. Much of Helsinki outside the inner city area consists of postwar suburbs separated from each other by patches of forests. A narrow, ten kilometer (6.2 mi) long Helsinki Central Park that stretches from the inner city to the northern border of Helsinki is an important recreational area for the residents.

Some notable islands in Helsinki include Seusaari, Lautasaari and Korkeasaari – which is also the country's biggest zoo – as well as the fortress island of Suomeliina (Sveaborg) and the military island of Santahamina.

he city has a temperate continental climate. Owing to the mitigating influence of the Baltic sea and Gulf stream, temperatures in winter are much higher than the northern location might suggest, with the average in January and February around -6 °C. Temperatures below -20 °C occur normally only for a week or two in a year. However, because of the latitude, days lasts less than six hours in the winter solstice, and the very cloudy weather accentuates the darkness. Conversely, Helsinki enjoys long days in summer, eighteen hours at the summer solstice. The temperature June through August is around 18-25 °C.

Climate in 2007 in Helsinki city center (summer temperatures are not very hot and winter temperatures not very cold because of its location near the sea):

A FAMOSA

A Famosa (Malay language: Kota A Famosa), or "The Famous" in Portuguese, is a fortress gate located in Malacca, Malaysia. It is among the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Asia. This tiny gate (called the Porta de Santiago) is all that is left of a once-mighty fortress. The fortress once consisted of long ramparts and four major towers. One was a four-story keep, while the others held an ammunition storage room, the residence of the captain, and an officers' quarters. Most of the village clustered in town houses inside the fortress walls. The a famosa was built between 1630 and 1780. In 1511 a Portuguese fleet arrived under the command of Alfonso de Albuquerque. His forces attacked and successfully defeated the armies of the Malacca Sultanate. The style of the building is fortress. The town and fortress of Malacca (1780)In late November 2006, a structure part of the fort, believed to be the Middelsburgh Bastion was accidentally uncovered during the construction of 110 meter revolving tower in Malacca Town.

JEJU ISLAND, KOREA

I would like to visit Jeju Island at Korean. Jeju Island is a volcanic island, dominated by Halla-san, a volcano 1,950 metres high and the highest mountain in South Korea. The island was created entirely from volcanic eruptions approximately 2 million years ago, during the time period from the Tertiary to the beginning of the Quaternary period, and consists chiefly of basalt and lava. It has a subtropical climate, warmer than the rest of Korea, with four distinct seasons. Half of the summer is rainy, and the winter is fairly dry. The Jeju City has a population about 560,000 people. Before the Japanese annexation in 1910, the island was usually known as Quelpart to Europeans. When Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910, Jeju then became known as Saishu, which is the Japanese reading of the hanja for Jeju. Before 2000, when the Seoul government changed the official Romanization of Hangul, Jeju-do was spelled Cheju-do. There are many sights that are most popular places for tourist. Example, the Cheonjiyeon waterfalls, Mountain Halla, Hyeobje cave and Hyeongje island. I will enjoy a lots of leisure sports in Jeju island including golf, horse riding, hunting, fishing, mountain climbing, etc. Depending on seasons, I can enjoy many festivals likes penguin swimming contest in winter, cherry blossom festival in spring, midsummer night beach festival in summer, horse festival in autumn and many more.

Sarawak's Unique Food, Drink & Culture - Melanau Cuisine .

From A Humble Fisherman’s Fare To A Gourmet’s Delight
UMAI is to Melanaus what sushi is to Japanese…a dish that has become synonymous with their cuisine. It stands out from the other mainstays of Melanau cuisine – linut the sago starch which was once a staple food, pipuih – smoked fish wrapped in young fronds of the nipah palm and see’ut – Si'et - larvae of a beetle that feed on the rooting pith of the sago palms.
Umai was originally a food of convenience for Melanau fishermen on fishing trips to the sea. Traditionally, umai is thinly sliced raw fish marinated with ‘assam paya’/asam kelubi, a very sour fruit of a wild palm, onions, chillies, and a pinch of salt – a very simple recipe that could be prepared with the minimum of fuss.It was an ideal recipe for the fishermen as it would have been inconvenient and dangerous to cook anything in their small boats. The fishermen also did not have to cook any rice as umai was traditionally eaten with baked sago pellets(picture), a staple food of the Melanaus besides the linut.Umai prepared by marinating the fish is called umai campur or mixed umai. Another way of preparing umai is to use the marinade as sauce and the sliver of fish fillet is dipped into the sauce before eating. This recipe is known as umai jup and umai connoisseurs claim it is the best way to eat umai because you get the original taste of the raw fish. Not all fish are suitable for umai and fresh water fish are seldom used. The rule of the thumb is to use fish that are easy to fillet and with fine flesh textures. At the top of the range are the white or black pomfret locally known in Sarawak as Duai, while the cheaper fish used is the Empirang or pihieng in Melanau. Freshness of the fish is the key factor to making umai.

Bakkwa, or rougan is a Chinese salty-sweet dried meat product, made in the form of flat thin sheets. It is normally made from pork. Bakkwa is believed to have originated from a meat preservation and preparation technique used in ancient China that is still practiced in places with Hokkien influence. Traditionally, bakkwa was made using leftover meats from festivals and banquets. They were preserved with sugar and salt, and then kept for later consumption, and was the preferred method at a time when refrigeration was not available. The meat from these celebrations is trimmed of the fat, sliced, marinated and then smoked. After smoking, the meat is cut into small pieces and stored for later. It is believed that the distinguishing feature behind the preparation was in the marination, and the recipe is often closely guarded. Bakkwa has become a highly popular gift offered to visitors as well as amongst corporate employees (some during the Chinese New Year). In Muslim-majority countries like Malaysia, halal chicken varieties of the snack may be used as a gift substitute.

Writing about routine and prosedure

To revise for an important exam, first I make a study plan. For me, make a study plan is important to succeed . This is because, I can plan the time and subject that I want to revise which suitable with my situation. For example, I planned for 6 hour per week to complete all the syllabus in one subject. After that, I will look at the syllabus. In study, I must have my own guide line to guide me and the syllabus is very helpful. The success not came easily, by hook or by crook, I must takes notes from lecturer. Then, after make a revision, I must take a breaks to make my mind peaceful and more calm. Usually, I cope my stress with shopping and jogging with my friend beside have a good brain. Lastly, after all that, I will try to remember all the main point from what I have revise is provided the good way in make me remember quickly what I have studied. As a conclusion, revise before an important exam can give me more opportunity to success in my exam.

Writing about study habits

Hai… I’m Yati. Anyone have any really good study habits that they would like to share? I have a study habits, but I’m not sure it is the best way or not. First of all, I need to establish my goal. I’m responsible for my successes and also my failures. What is it that I trying to accomplish through studying? What can motivate me? After these questions are answered, I can better arrange my priorities in order to be successful at reaching my goal. I always remember that my goal and priorities should be dictated by me, not by the people who surround me.

Then, I will find the times and places when and where I can do the best work is essential to being successful and reaching my goals. I will more alert in the midnight. I usually study more than 7 hour in a week. I also have a room or quiet place that is set up for my study. It should be free from distractions, climate-controlled, and hold everything that I need to have an effective study session (textbooks, notebooks, a dictionary, laptop, etc.). I prefer to study alone. Sometimes, my friends ask me to study with them but we usually start chatting about other things without do anything that important.

I have a hard time paying attention, and concentrating in my classes. I am starting to work harder these days, though study tips would be very helpful. I am currently a sophomore in university, and I want to do better than before. If the lecturer writes something on the board and doesn't require for me to take notes, I still jot down something in my notebook to help me better understand. I always save the papers that I have got in class. So, I can refer back for tests and for the final exam. When studying, I will cover the word and talk out loud the definition and vice versa. Rewriting and rereading key facts help me to engrave them in my memory. I’ll read over my notes and the most important things that I need to know for the test. I also trust my brain!

Finally, I follow the old adage - if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. For example, if I working on a math problem that I cannot figure out, staring at the page probably will not help. I will discuss the problem with another student or the lecturer. The point is that to succeed, I know that I need to exhaust all possibilities and paths to success until I reach my goal.
